[外絮] Klay Thompson愛犬Rocco過世
Rocco, the beloved English bulldog that belonged to former Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, has died, according to Mychal Thompson, the now-Mavericks guard's father. He was 13.
The elder Thompson revealed the devastating news on the Wednesday edition of ESPN LA sports radio show “Mason & Ireland.”
Rocco是前金州勇士球星Klay Thompson所飼養、深受喜愛的英國鬥牛犬，已經去世，消息來自現為獨行俠球員的Thompson之父Mychal Thompson。Rocco享年13歲。
Mychal Thompson在週三播出的 ESPN 洛杉磯體育電台節目《Mason & Ireland》中透露了這個令人心碎的消息。
“As Mase and Ireland always say, when someone dear has departed, ‘Hail fello
w well met,’” Thompson said while introducing a segment in the third hour of
the show. “We had to put Rocco, Klay’s dog, down over the weekend.”
After an immediate outburst of sympathy from everyone else on the show, Thompson shared that Rocco was put down Saturday but that “it was time.” He added
shortly afterward, “We were all sad, but Rocco had a great, long life. So today’s game is dedicated to the memory of our service men and women, and to Rocco,” before launching into a jovial on-air game featuring trivia questions about the dog.

As Klay Thompson ascended into superstardom in the NBA, so too did his beloved pet. A 2014 San Francisco Chronicle article about Thompson’s growth starts with an anecdote where the then-Dubs guard was anxiously waiting to finish up signing his new contract to get back to Rocco. The relationship was the poster child for the old saying of “man’s best friend,” especially in the sports w
orld. The English bulldog had his own Instagram account — although it has been mostly dormant since May 2023 — and social media posts that involved Thompson and Rocco would rocket to viral fame.
Naturally, the NBA pet got plenty of media attention, with varying levels of success. He was part of a BMW ad with Thompson, for instance, but when ESPN tried to get him in-studio in LA, things didn’t work out. Multiple features about Thompson throughout the mid-to-late 2010s would involve some form of Thompson calling Rocco his “son.” Even with that closeness, when a reporter asked t
he Splash Brother how Rocco handled his absences, Thompson replied, “It’s no
t too bad he lives a pretty good life. I think he understand you gotta go to work and pay the bills.”

Rocco had mostly left the spotlight over the past couple of years or so. His most recent notable mention happened in 2022, when a reporter asked Thompson for an update on the dog. Thompson said it was a “great question” and that Roc
co would be turning 10 on April 20.
“He was born in mid-April at some point, but to make things easier, I say the 20th,” he said at the time. “Easy date to remember and to be a 10-year-old
bulldog, I’m very grateful for Rocco.”
Thompson got three more years to appreciate the most beloved dog in the league.
在過去兩年左右的時間裡，Rocco大多淡出了公眾視野。他最後一次受到矚目的提及是在2022年，當時有記者問Thompson關於Rocco的近況。Thompson表示這是個「很棒的問題」，並說Rocco將在4月20日滿10歲。
