Next month, the first edition of the Youth Rotterdam Baseball Week will be organized at the Neptunus Familiestadion, the home of Curaçao Neptunus in Rotterdam. Last year, the first edition of the Rotterdam Baseball Weekend was played, which was organized instead of the Rotterdam Baseball World Port Tournament.

That event was first organized in 1985, the last edition was in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tounament was cancelled in 2021, but there were plans to return in 2023. Instead, the Rotterdam Baseball Weekend was organized, which was a 3-day, 3-game series between the National Teams of the Netherlands and Czechia.

In a press release, Neptunus announced the upcoming new, international tournament:

,,After the success of the 1st Rotterdam Baseball Weekend in September 2023, the first youth edition of the event will be organized this year. The national under-15 selections from the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic will play against each other at the Youth Rotterdam Baseball Week in the Neptunus Family Stadium from July 9 to 13. The under-16 team of Team Kingdom of The Netherlands will also participate in the series of games to provide extra competition.

Youth Rotterdam Baseball Week is organized by Rotterdam United Baseball and Sportclub Neptunus. This is done in close collaboration with Rotterdam Topsport andSportbedrijf Rotterdam. The event is financially supported by Nirint Shipping. With the organization of this new youth tournament, the sport of baseball will get a great international stage in the city. The aim of the parties involved is to organize a Rotterdam Baseball Week every year from now on, inviting the A-teams in odd years and the under-15 youth selections in even years.
