後面那句話有可能是別人植入愛迪生的言論裡。

傳言：
我們都以為是“天才就是1%的靈感加上99%的汗水”。這句話本身並沒有被偷梁換柱，但
教材偏偏每次都漏掉後面那關鍵的一句話：“但那1%的靈感是最重要的，甚至比那99%的
汗水都要重要”。

關於此傳言的來源，以下說法目前已無法從可靠來源查到英文原文，無法證實：

據稱，在一個名為Cynthia Sterling的女作家的個人主頁上的“Writing Articles”欄目
中，有一個題為“Inspiration and Perspiration”的文章
(http://members.aol.com/cysterling/articleinspiration.htm)，開首前兩段話如下：

　　Thomas Edison said “Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine
per cent perspiration.”
　　Without the one percent of inspiration, all the perspiration in the worldis only a bucket of sweat. So where do writers find that all-important

注意引號里那一句才是愛迪生的話。

如果此說為真，則有可能某人翻譯這部分時把 "Without the one percent of
inspiration, all the perspiration in the world is only a bucket of sweat" 誤認為是愛迪生的話了。
