在該部Youtube影片中，原始上傳者並沒有說明這位音樂家的背景。

而其中最高讚數的留言是這段。

whats confirmed is this man was a Ukraine Freedom fighter who protested
through playing piano at the front of the protests. His family was killed in
bombings and he chose to play the piano after finding one abandoned on the
streets. Its a pretty heartbreaking story and you can read about him by
searching up the Piano Man protestor

這段的部分我沒看出是否彈奏者是為反烏克蘭政府軍，同時該留言也沒有
給出引述來源是否為真。

底下也有其他人留言：
His wife and daughter did die, but it was before the war. He moved to Kyiv
during EuroMaidan revolution and found a piano to play. He played at the
protests for days, even when the conditions were far from safe.

但是雙方都沒有資訊出處，所以也無法辨識何者為真。

而更後面有關被政府軍宰了，以及所謂反對加入歐盟與北約的部分更是隻字未提。
所謂假扮的部分也一樣沒有任何資訊來源。
