The fact that Lenin had not ventured to reward him and the Soviet state had
branded him a traitor only reinforced Parvus' disillusionment with Lenin's
Russia. (I suspect the implication is that these were the major source of his"disillusionment".)

這本書是所謂的通俗學術著作。雖說通俗，但嚴守著學術的規範， 該有的引文、註釋以比較簡潔的方式呈現，人事、時空的架構 也按史實井然有序地安排妥當。可惜由於翻譯的錯誤，原本清晰的 架構彷彿落入某種現實扭曲力場 （reality distortion field）， 時空及語言的錯亂不時可見。例如：7
原作出來不久我就讀了，因為當年是俄共革命百週年， 這本書得到幾個書獎，頗受矚目。後來在圖書館架上看到中譯本， 隨意翻看了幾章，只憑著還算新鮮的記憶，就發現些離譜的錯誤， 隨手放回架上，沒多注意譯者的背景。 最近聽說 Ivan's War 也出譯本了，還是這個譯者操刀，心想不妙。4
